18. Princess Joan, born in Spring, 1272, at Acre, Palestine, died April 23rd, 1307 at her manor at Clare, Suffolk, and was buried in the Priory Church of the Austin Friars, Clare, Suffolk. She married 1stly April 30th, 1290, Gilbert de Clare, 7th Earl of Gloucester, born Sept. 2, 1243, died Dec. 7, 1295, son of Richard, 2nd Earl of Gloucester, by his wife Lady Margaret de Burgh.

19. Elizabeth de Clare, born 1295, died Nov. 4, 1360, married Feb. 3, 1315 (2nd husband) Theobald de Verdon of Alton, Staffs, born 1278, died July 27, 1316, son of Theobald de Verdon, by his wife Lady Maud Mortimer.

20. Isabel de Verdon, born March 21, 1317/18, died July 25th, 1349, married Henry Ferrers, 2nd Baron Groby, died at Groby Sept. 15th, 1343 and buried in the Priory of Ulvescroft.

21. William Ferrers, 3rd Baron Groby, born Newbold Verdon, co. Leicester, Febr. 28th 1332/3, died Jan. 8, 1370/1, will dated June 1st 1368 and pr. Aug.14, 1372, married (first wife) Lady Margaret de Ufford, died Sept. 8, 1375, daughter of Robert, Earl of Suffolk.

22. Henry Ferrers, 4th Baron Groby, died 1388, married Lady Joan, probably daughter and heiress of Sir Thomas de Hoo, of Luton Hoo and Stopsley, Beds., and of Isabel de Seint Leger.

23. William Ferrers, 5th Baron Groby, died 1444, married (first wife) Philipa, daughter of Roger, Baron Clifford, by Lady Maud Beauchamp, daughter of Thomas Earl of Warwick.

24. Sir Thomas Ferrers, (Visitation of Warwickshire,) (Pedigree XIV, Burke’s Royal Families of England, Scotland and Wales.) married Elizabeth Freville, sister and co-heir of Sir Baldwin Freville, Knt., of Tamworth Castle, County Warwick.

25. Sir Henry Ferrers, Knt., died Dec. 28, 1500. (Burke’s Landed Gentry), (Sir Henry Ferrers’ will dated Dec. 22, 1499) (P.C.C. 4 Moore) (Visitation of Warwick, p. 166), married Margaret Heckstall, daughter and co-heir of William Heckstall, of East Peckham, Knt., Esq., and widow of William Whetenhall.

26. Elizabeth Ferrers, Visitation of Warwick, Visitation of Kent, Will of Sir Edward Ferrers, dated July 10, 1535 (P,C.C. 29 Hogen), married circa 1508 James Clerke, of Forde Hall, Gentleman, son of John Clerke, of Ford, near Wrotham, Kent., by his wife Lucy Moyle. He died Sept. 20, 1553.

27. George Clerke, of Forde Hall, Gentleman, born 1510, died March 8, 1558, (Visitation of Kent), (Will of Sir Edward Ferrers), married circa 1533, Elizabeth Wilsforde, daughter of Thomas Wilsforde, of Hartridge, par. of Cranbrook, Kent., by his wife Elizabeth Culpepper.

28. James Clerke, of East Farleigh, Kent, Gentleman, born circa 1540, died 1614. (Visitation of Kent.) (His will dated July 13, 1614. Lawe 118, married circa 1566, Mary Saxby , daughter of Sir Edward Saxby (Saxilby), Baron of the Exchequer, by his wife Elizabeth (Fisher) Woodliff.

29. William Clerke, of East Farleigh, Kent and St. Botolph Aldgate, London, Gentleman, (Bishop of London’s M. License,) (Parish Register of East Ffarleigh, Kent,) married Feb. 10, 1598/9 at St. Andrews, Holborn, Mary Weston, daughter of Sir Jerome and Mary (Cave) Weston.

30. Mary Clerke, bapt. Sept. 16, 1610, (Parish Register, East Farleigh, Kent,) married Richard Tew of Maidford, Northampton Co., England. 18 Oct. 1633, the following instrument was placed upon record in Rhode Island at a date later than he instrument itself. “This Indenture made the 18th day of October , in the 9th year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord Charles, of England and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith. &c. Between Henry Tew, of Maidford, , &c., yeoman, and William Clarke of Prior Hardwick, &c., yeoman, witnesseth: That and in consideration or a marriage by the grace of God shortly to be had and solemnized between Richard Tew son and heir apparent of said Henry, and Mary Clarke one of the daughters of said William Clarke, and for the sum £ 30, of lawful money of England, by bond secured to be paid by said William Clarke, unto said Henry Tew, upon the last day of May next, and for the sum of £ 120, by bond secured to be paid to him said William Clarke to said Richard Tew, upon the 29th day of September, 1640, and for divers other good causes.” &c. Then follows an agreement entered into by Henry Tew to make over his part to his son Richard, houses, barns, tenements, hereditaments, fields, &c.

34. John Waterman, born about 1728, died at Johnston, R. I., 7 Feb. 1777, married at Providence, R. I., 17 Jan. 1750, Mary Olney, born 3 Nov. 1730, died at Providence, R. I., 5 Sept. 1763, daughter of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Smith) Olney.
